Senior UX/UI.
Minus the agency.
No account managers, no handovers. Work directly with a senior UX/UI and product designer with 30 years' experience, from the first workshop to developer handoff.

Brands I’ve worked with

Why not an agency?
Agencies are built for breadth: brand, marketing, campaigns and websites, delivered by a team that changes from project to project. That suits a lot of work. For a complex product, it often means paying for layers between you and the person doing the design.
I’ve worked inside agencies, and I still support them as a white-label designer, so I know where the time goes. With me there’s no account manager and no handover from the senior who pitched to the junior who delivers. The person in the first meeting is the person in Figma.
My focus is complex software: SaaS dashboards, workflows, data-heavy tools and design systems. If you need a brand campaign or a marketing site on its own, an agency is probably the better fit, and I’ll tell you so.

One senior designer, start to finish
Discovery, UX, UI and design systems, all done by the person you briefed. No account managers, no juniors learning on your project, and no context lost between the team that pitched and the team that delivers.
Agency-level work, without the overhead
Weekly check-ins, async updates and Figma files with full developer handoff specs. You pay for design, not for the process an agency needs to run a team. Projects are scoped to the outcome, or there’s a fixed monthly retainer for one day a week.
Made for complex software
Most agencies spread across brand, marketing and web. I work on the product itself: the dashboards, workflows and edge cases people use every day for their jobs, across mining, energy, logistics, EdTech and AI products.
Services
I work on the part of SaaS products users actually live in: dashboards, workflows, complex interactions and design systems. Project engagements for founders shipping new products, and one-day-a-week retainers for product teams that need senior design without the full-time hire.

Some of it under NDA, so what's here skews toward the work I can show. It's the kind of work I wrote about in why I design business apps.
Frequently asked questions
It depends on the work. If you need brand, campaigns, a marketing site and a product all at once, an agency's breadth can make sense. If the problem is a complex product, such as a SaaS platform, an internal tool or a data-heavy dashboard, a senior independent designer usually gets there faster, because you work directly with the person doing the design rather than through account and project managers.
You pay for senior design time rather than account management, project management and agency margin. Projects are scoped to the outcome, and retainers are a fixed monthly fee for one day a week. Rates sit at the senior end of independent design pricing, which is typically below a mid-sized agency engagement. I'm upfront about pricing once I understand the scope.
For product design, yes. Discovery, UX, UI, prototyping and design systems are what I do every day, from the first workshop to developer handoff in Figma. If a project needs something outside that, like large-scale research or a brand campaign, I'll say so at the start and recommend specialists.
That's fine. I also work with agencies directly, as white-label senior support when a project needs deeper product thinking. If you have an agency you like, I can work alongside them rather than replace them.
No. I'm based in Perth and happy to meet in person here, and I work remotely with teams across Australia and overseas.
I typically have one or two openings a quarter for new project work, and retainer slots are more limited. The quickest way to find out is to get in touch. If I'm booked, I'm happy to recommend other designers who might suit your project.
